bokeen and I are headed to pick up our car rental for our weeklong trip to the Ozarks. Neighborhood streets have a lot of one-ways. The first left we made, we saw the street was closed two blocks up because city workers were paving concrete.
"You know, I would appreciate if they gave a bit of notice!" he said in his typical angry man fashion as he made another left turn. "Is that too much to ask?"
"Well, what are you going to do about it now?" I asked as we approached the next intersection.
"Shit. I left the paperwork at the house." He turned left instead of keeping straight to get to Morgan St.
"Well," I said. "Looks like you had to go this way anyhow, huh?" bokeen laughed and agreed.
"I knew I was forgetting something," he said. "It wasn’t locking the back door, but it was something."
"Mmmhmm. And the universe was just setting you up to go the way you needed to. Talk about a full circle moment," I said as we made the fourth left turn and pulled right back up in front of our house.
